Taxi License - How to Get a TLC License NYC

Want a taxi license, specifically a TLC license NYC? The taxi license that is referred to as a TLC license NYC means the license issued by the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission for driving either a medallion yellow cab or black car in the five boros that make up New York City.

Obtaining a license to drive a taxicab in New York City is also referred to as the hack license. While taxi confessions are the basis for a popular television series, in reality, NYC taxi drivers experience these kind of conversations each and every day or night while driving the streets of NYC.

Once the taxi license called the TLC license NYC is obtained, you have access to the New York City yellow taxi cabs. You can choose to work the day or night shift. You decide when you want a vacation and job security is based on how good your driving record is.

The first step to getting the taxi license is attending a six hour defensive driving course. This can be done at the Master Cabbie Taxi Academy. Prior to filing the application with the TLC, a taxi diver applicant must also have a simple medical exam done by a New York licensed physician. Master Cabbie can schedule this inexpensive exam for you if you choose.

With paperwork complete and filing fees in hand, you then file the application for the TLC license NYC with the licensing division of the Taxi and Limousine Commission. At the time of filing, fingerprints will be taken and a background search done online by TLC. Once the application is submitted, a taxi license applicant must submit to a drug test at a TLC designated laboratory.

The next step in getting the taxi license is to attend taxi school. Following taxi school, an applicant must successfully complete the New York City Taxi Operators examination. The test consists of thirty questions related to English proficiency and fifty questions related to New York City taxi cab knowledge that has been learned in taxi school.

Why do locals and visitors alike take taxis in NYC? It is easy, fast and convenient. With more than 13,000 yellow cabs, NYC taxi license drivers provide about 225,000,000 rides a year at an average of over nine dollars per ride.

Having the TLC license NYC and driving a yellow cab is a dependable way to make a living. With the dollar at a low level against many other currencies, New York City is setting records with the number of tourists visiting each year.

Add the convention trade, the theater district and the newly expanding upper income neighborhoods outside Manhattan, it is easy to understand why holding a valid taxi license NYC can provide a meaningful income. Recent adjustments to the fare structure by the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission have increased taxi driver income to the highest level in decades.

If you are interested in getting the TLC license NYC, Master Cabbie can help make the process happen for you. If English is your second or third language and you may need extra help, the staff at Master Cabbie can assist you in your preparation.

If the thought of having the taxi license NYC appeals to you, contact the staff of Master Cabbie and get started today.
