Teaching ESL in Taiwan? Taiwan places great emphasis on English learning and parents send their children to English schools from a very early age. Almost anytime of the year is a good time to look for work if you are an English teacher. What is it really like to teach English in Taiwan? Some teachers pick Taiwan over other countries to teach in because of how easy it is and the qualifications required to be an English teacher are easily met. This doesn't mean it is easy work with easy pay, but you can make a living teaching English in Taiwan.

Most of the jobs or work teaching in Taiwan is at cram schools. These schools cater classes to children as parents send their children to English classes at a very early age. The majority of the kids are anywhere from six to twelve. Thanks to this, the material taught is usually very easy and basic. Of course there is still work to be found teaching older students, but if this is your first time to Taiwan it will most likely be teaching children.

The requirements to be an English teacher are very easy. You need to have a recognized Bachelor's degree and you must be from an English speaking country. This means anyone from Canada, the United Kingdom, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa you already meet this requirement.

If you are looking for teaching ESL in Taiwan, then the good news is that almost anyone can teach English in Taiwan today. With any normal Bachelor's degree and being a native English speaker you will meet the requirement of most cram schools that are looking for English teachers.
