The Waiting Game and How to Keep Your Spirits Up

You have been thinking about it all week. You can't get it off your mind.  Symptoms include restlessness, concern, nervousness, and various feelings of insecurity.  We've all been there before. I'm talking about the time between applying for a job and waiting for a callback from a potential employer.  It can be dreadful.  Margot Carmichael Lester is a contributing writer to Monster.com who suggests a few strategies to consider so you don't drive yourself crazy.  Be real and understand that the person on the other side of the desk is under a great deal of stress as there is usually a sense of urgency to fill a position.  Be reasonable.  It is alright to inquire about your application but don't become desperate and you definitely do not want to be labeled as a stalker. Remain positive as your emotions are about the only thing you have control over in the situation. Lastly, be optimistic and think about what could happen over what isn't happening and read the rest of the details at http://career-advice.monster.com/job-search/getting-started/job-application-process-following-up/article.aspx?WT.mc_n=CRMUS000674

We are in a recession right now and if you are like me and are seeking employment, you are feeling stress and probably a few other negative emotions.  This can hurt you in an interview.  Hiring managers can definitely tell if you stink of negativity. DiceTV personnel Cat Miller has shared a few tips to help us stay positive during our times of feeling blue. She suggests listening to upbeat music before an interview to lift your spirits. Don't walk into that office without a smile on your face.  It'll be in your favor and everyone will play "Follow the Leader".  Humor can be a good thing; just don't attempt an entire stand-up act. Lastly and most important, you must keep the negative talk to a minimum.  For more details on these tips go to http://career-resources.dice.com/articles/content/entry/dicetv_feeling_down_smile_anyway?cmpid=126
