Travel agent training – How to become a certified cruise planner expert

Terri Burke, senior VP of relationship marketing for Cruise Planners, recently went on record saying “higher learning leads to higher earnings.” Travel agents across the country are starting to feel the importance of that statement as it becomes increasingly difficult to make a good income as a travel professional.

To make real money, continuing education is paramount.  In order to help travel professionals stay ahead of the curve with cutting edge training, Cruise Planners is now offering a new virtual education platform.

This platform, an upgraded course offered by Cruise Planners University, is geared toward giving travel professionals the knowledge they need to become certified cruise planner experts.  In effect, the new course combines Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) content, select cruise related university curriculum and Cruise Planner’s own core training modules into one cohesive course.

This training expansion makes the CPU course a two year program that has over 40 separate courses. Students are tested frequently and complete the course with a myriad of industry accreditations.

To make the program even more exciting, the CPU offers at-sea seminars, networking opportunities and a dedicated Facebook group to encourage career-long relationships.

After completing the entire 6 step program (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, masters and PhD) the participant is awarded with an official certified cruise planner expert certification.  This opens up opportunities for the graduate throughout the cruise planning industry.

The price to enroll in the new course hasn’t yet been published.  However, interested parties can visit the CPU website for more information.

While this course offers a great continuing education opportunity for current travel agents and other professionals, one can truly benefit only when they begin the course with core education.

The price points and time investment varies greatly for getting this core education.  However, my recommendation for those looking to become travel professionals is to check out the courses offered by Amazon.com.
