Vincent Odetta has been in security for over 10 years as a security consultant. He helps others attain security jobs and currently lives in New Orleans, LA.
Looking for jobs in security? Security jobs in the world are either getting easier or more difficult determining on who you talk to. More and more news articles about terrorism, invasion and theft leads to the consulting of business security and personal security outfits. Security is becoming an increasing concern for not only most Americans, but for countries around the world. After Sept. 11, we have been exposed to the private security jobs sector, like Blackwater and DynCorps International for example. These security services have helped thousands of threatened individuals that are doing work in harms way.
The attainment of business security and jobs in security - in general - is in fact growing. A lot of people are under the impression that companies like Blackwater are no longer supplying jobs in security. But, that is only because the media doesn't hound them everywhere they go. They still are in about 9 other countries doing business security operations. Many of the security jobs that they were under contract, went to Triple Canopy and DynCorps.
To land decent security jobs nowadays can be competitive. You need to make sure that you have a great looking resume to either become a private security contractor, private security guard, private investigator, detective, bodyguard, security consultant, bouncer, etc. You cannot just apply to a bunch of companies and expect that you will find great security jobs. It just won't happen. Right now, thousands of veterans are leaving the military services to get jobs in security. You better have one up than the next guy. To make sure you are ahead of the game, you can take some measures to be able to enhance your resume. For one, you can go out and get a security license. There are many places you can go but I personally would recommend you reading up on it first in an ebook by Wolfgang Ward. In his ebook he shows you how to extend your security services into many areas of the world by supplying some great information on security jobs for you. It's the bible for most private security contractors.
I don't know if you are a bouncer, security guard at a mall, private investigator, business security specialist or whatever. But let me tell you, there are plenty of jobs in security out there in the world. You just have to look! And really, it depends on what which security services you would like to provide. Do you want to be a private security contractor or do you want to be a mall cop? But security jobs are on the rise and you really do need to be open to the fact that there are plenty of jobs in security with even foreign companies around the world. Do you think that the only people doing security services around the world were American companies. Of course not! But where do you find them?
Getting employment with these companies is one thing you might have to make a decision on. Everyday jobs in security, like bouncers, security guards, personal security, etc, might not take you to make a huge decision for you or your family. But, obviously if you were looking into security jobs across the great ocean, you might want to take some preparations in seeking employment.
Security jobs are literally all around you. Take a look at the news. About every week, some random security company lands a contract because of crime. There was an explosion of jobs in security when those attacks happened to the oil lines in Niger, or when NBC did a news run or pirates attacking cruise lines. But if you are looking at staying in the United States or overseas, I suggest you find out a good way of knowing where they are. The Private Security Contractors Guide by Wolfgang Ward has a list of all the companies doing business security in the world and would probably be your best bet in learning the industry and finding security jobs.
