Why is "Rig Work" so interested to join?

Here we have lists of rig work positions with the general salary per year and their job descriptions.

  • Port maintenance worker: ($25,000 to $60,000): This position is responsible to keep cleaning of the ship surface including general maintenance, painting and clothing.
  • Dispensary operator: ($30,000 to $45,000): The main task is stepped down from the boat engineer and assistant engineer due to the consolidation on the platform. The responsibility on this position is also included the maintenance of employment opportunity to remain on the regular basis of document and work permit.
  • Crane operator: ($34,000 to $60,500): The main duty is responsible for all operations of the crane and supply boats to the rostrum. It is subject to the monitoring and roustabouts assistant crane operator. Normally, the cranes will be used for transport cargo on board such as castings, pipes, equipment, clothing, food, and so on. Also, it is responsible for the arrangement of any necessary rigs and goods. Painting, cleaning and general maintenance are also parts of the responsibilities as well.
  • Barge Engineer: ($47,000 to $69,000): This position is responsible for control room operations including consolidation and handling, ship supply and uniform stability and managing of the control room. It will be the experience of the merchant navy so this man is expected to obtain good knowledge on coast guard and fire safety procedures.
  • Electrician: ($65,000 to $87,500): This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment on the platform. Sometime, this man has to work more than the normal 12 hours shift. Probably, he may be called out any time during his time off to repair some major occurrences. This position will be considered to be promoted up to the position of Electronic technician ($74,000), Chief electrician ($83,000) and Maintenance supervisor (Electrical) ($87,500) respectively.
  • Rig Management: ($108,000 to $160,000): This is a group of management positions including (1) Toolpusher who works in the rig office and rig floor. This person has to responsible for the main deck who is normally experienced in driller. (2) Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) often performs his way up through the drill crew ranks. He is in overall charge of the rig sometimes called "Man In Charge" (MIC). (3) Company man/woman is the employee representative of oil companies on board. He/She is not employed by the drilling company operating the rig. On the drilling rig, the oil company employees who work with the drilling company have to supervise and control the strategy of drilling the well effectively.

The positions listed above are only general samples of the positions in the oil industries where are massive worldwide employers.
