Working Moms Need Quiet Time Too!

Posted: Dec 22, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Many of you are saying, "wouldn't that be nice…" with a little bit of a sarcastic tone. Trust me, I know that feeling. As I have mentioned in weeks past, I learned a lot about myself when I went to Dallas a few of weeks ago.

I need more quiet time!

Trust me, as the mother of three boys, ages 3, 5 and 7 there is not much of it flying around. The difference is, I am looking for it now. In the past I would just throw my hands up to the fact I would never get any of it. I have since learned it is out there, you just have to find it…and utilize it.

How do I find it? Again, in the past I would immediately turn on the television the second I had a minute to rest. FYI, that is NOT quiet time. Now, when I have a few minutes to spare I chose to go sit on the back patio next to the pool, read a good book, or maybe even lay on the couch and close my eyes. Maybe I will get a quick cat nap in, maybe I will meditate, go for a walk or read.

No matter what it is I am taking care of myself and filling my cup. The television does not do that for me, especially these days with all the horrible news everywhere. I think we all need a break from that constant bombardment.

What is the best way to utilize it? That is totally up to you. Everybody is different. Personally, I find if something is really bothering me or if I have a very big decision to make, this is one of the best ways for me to find clarity.

I believe there are sayings out there that you already have all the answers. I believe that. You just have to give your mind and body the time and proper surroundings to do it. You will feel refreshed and clear on your path. What more could you ask for?

Do you believe everything happens for a reason? Luckily, I do. Trust me I have not always been that way. I have certainly had my share of feeling like I was a victim. But, as I have mentioned in the past, I have been going through this enormous shift over the last year. One of the shifts I have been making has been moving from victim to warrior. Now, don't get me wrong, I still have my pity party moments. I think everyone needs those now and again to stay sane. The difference is, when I am feel

While I was at the eWomenNetwork "Think Big" Business Summit in Roseville, California on Tuesday, I received a wealth of information from the speakers. They were wonderful and had a lot of fantastic information to share. The problem that I find I run into when I go to events like this is that I get completely overwhelmed. I know that may seem like a silly question, however, I remember a time when I was living like a robot. I would get up every morning, take my shower, drive to work, work all day, drive home, blah, blah, blah. Not so coincidentally, I would also get the Sunday night dreads at that time. Do you know what those are? You know, when Sunday evening rolls around you get that awful feeling in the pit of your stomach. You almost cannot bear the thought of working another week where you are at.
