Your Ticket To Landing A Job Promotion

Every single day thousands of job or job promotion seekers prepare their resumes or CVs on the hope of landing either that very first job they have been anxiously preparing for since college or of getting that work offering a much higher compensation as well as far better work benefits. On the other hand, thousands of job providers are on the look out for those job seekers with the right qualifications and the needed experience for them to employ in their companies.

People have been complaining of having only a limited number of job opportunities. This is due to the fact that it takes time for an organization to acknowledge the necessity for additional employees. As much as possible they would not hire any additional staff for as long as the workload could still be shouldered by its current line up and is still within the boundaries of their duties and responsibilities.

Creating a new position with a different set of job responsibilities though would be a different story but still that particular division or department has to present to top management justifications for its need of extra staff. It is because of this that job descriptions tend to be long, having as much as fifteen responsibilities when in actual practice only the first four responsibilities are the main ones while the rest are mostly minor duties to make it appear that there is really a need for an extra hand. Also a responsibility that is always included is "any other duties and responsibilities assigned by management." This is still to a company's advantage for they could always assign additional workload since it is part of the job description.

When you apply for a job, it is important that you clearly state in your résumé or CV all the work experience you have undergone as well as give a detailed list of the duties and responsibilities for all the positions you may have been assigned to. Employers would look for potential employees having not only the necessary educational background and technical skills but more importantly they look into you having the needed experience to get the job done.

But irregardless of the detailed job description containing the numerous duties you were responsible for (that may even over qualify you for the work), there is a hidden job responsibility that you may have overlooked and that is making your boss do his job in an easier and more convenient manner.

Basically you are hired to help your boss and your boss is hired to help his boss and so on and so forth. This system goes up the corporate ladder. But in most cases, employees don't actually practice this in the workplace.

Your superior delegates upon you certain work to be accomplished, passing on to you that responsibility thereby making his job easier to manage. Usually they delegate jobs to their subordinates so that they can work on more important matters like planning and decision-making. Most of the time, employees destroy their chances of being recognized and promoted because they turn away from these responsibilities and delegate them back up to their bosses.

When your head delegates responsibilities especially problems that need to be solved, it is your duty to solve them especially if they are minor problems. However, when it comes to solving major problems it is best that you talk with your boss. Present to him possible solutions you may have come up with and ask him if he would prefer to decide on the matter or maybe use one of your action plans. If you step up to the plate and exhibit responsibility for the matter on hand, your boss will appreciate how you handle your job as well as how you have made the job easier on his part. Making your boss happy will increase your chances for a possible raise or promotion for you have displayed qualities that make you ready to take on more authority and responsibility.

In marketing yourself as the right person for the job or job promotion demonstrate in your CV projects that you've probably spearheaded or responsibilities that have made your boss's job easier. Chances are you're well on your way to landing that job.
