2 new models to enter London for free
Since the 4th of January 2011 the London Congestion Charge exemption criteria has changed. According to the new exemption rules, cars producing less than 100g/km do not have to pay the £10 daily charge. If you are a new Citroen DS3 or C3 owner then this is good news for you, the two Citroen models produce less than 100g/km of CO2 making them both eligible for the 100% discount. Due to their environmental credentials both models are also exempt from the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED).
Linda Jackson, Citroen UK Managing Director commented; "This change further highlights the importance of driving cleaner, greener cars in urban environments. Citroen is continuing to make significant progress in reducing emissions across its whole vehicle range and encouraging drivers to make environmentally conscious driving decisions. The two Citroen models now exempt from the congestion charge demonstrate that a greener choice does not mean compromising on style, comfort or driving pleasure."
Owners of these two Citroen models need to register with the GVD scheme to benefit from the 100% discount. They do not have to register for the VED exemption though as this is done at first registration. Exemption for the London Congestion Charge and the Vehicle Excise Duty could potentially save DS3 and C3 drivers around £2,500 every year.
The DS3 is doing very well for Citroen as it is; it is a very quirky little car and boats individuality and demands applause. The C3 is doing equally well for Citroen, dominating the supermini car sector which includes fierce competition from models such as the Audi A1 and Mini.
