Under the Bonnet:
The Chrysler Grand Voyager has a six-speed automatic transmission and either a 3.8-litre V-6 engine that produces 142 kW (193 hp DIN) at 5,200 rpm and 305 Nm (230 lb.-ft.) of torque at 4,000 rpm, or a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 120 kW (163 hp DIN) at 3,800 rpm and 360 Nm (266 lb.-ft.) of torque at 1800 rpm. Three equipment levels – LX, Touring and Limited will be also be available.
How it Drives:
When hitting the road, Grand Voyager is quiet, thanks to a good noise insulation and smooth 2.8-litre CRD engine. The diesel delivers 161bhp and 360Nm of torque, and provides reasonable performance considering the Chrysler weighs two tonns. A 3.8-litre V6 petrol is available, although it’s thirsty and won’t appeal to many buyers in Australia.
Comfort and Practicality:
The Macarthur 2008 Chrysler Voyager is a good choice if you are up to comfort and practicality. Notice the premium, multi-function, dual glove boxes, second-row covered storage bins, third-row storage area and clever storage bins not to mention the pockets that offer more places to store things than ever before.
There are actually two distinct seating configurations available for 2008 Voyager. One is the Stow ’n Go® seating and storage system which provides the only second- and third-row fold-in-the-floor seats in the industry and the new Swivel ’n Go seating which allows the second row seats to swivel 180 degrees to face rearward. Aside from that, Swivel ’n Go also includes a removable table which fits between the second and third rows with a fold-in-the-floor third-row seat. A one-touch power-folding third-row seat also is available.
Safety:
Safety has clearly been a Voyager’s priority. Side curtain airbags are all-round and added rollover protection are standard, which will give peace of mind to family buyers. Brake assist and stability control systems are also included.
