Psychological issues often present themselves as destructive behaviour, anxiety, alcohol abuse and smoking. The writers of the report also felt that mental health should be one of the things that is also attributed to dangerous driving.
They classed drivers that admitted to speeding or not wearing seatbelts as risky drivers, but the rest of the subjects were determined to be regular drivers. The study does however only go on reported behaviour by the drivers in question themselves, so there might be information that wasn't revealed, and therefore the issue might be far greater than reported.
Critics have said that the study has some gaps, for example it does not state what it defines risky behaviour as, or mention distracted driving at all, which we know is a trigger for young drivers with the advent of mobile phones, texting, iPods and other things that might take the hands off the wheel and the eyes off the road.
