Did You Pack That? Road Trip Essentials from Interstate Ford

Posted: Oct 29, 2010 |

Thanksgiving and Christmas are just weeks away and it may be time for many families to pack up the kids and supplies in their Interstate Ford. With all the chaos and excitement of the holiday season, it is easy to forget some of the most important items you need for your road trip.

Dayton's Interstate Ford reminds you about some of the essentials you may forget:

Medicine/Vitamins

Even if you don't take prescription medication, don't forget the over the counter items that would come in handy on a trip away from home. Common medicines like anti-nausea medicines for car sickness, cold medicines, headache medicines, heartburn medicines, and vitamins you take can be very expensive if you have to stop at an all-night convenience store to stock up.

Overnight Bag

If you are traveling for any long period of time, it's best to pack a change of clothing and pack it someone easy to reach. Spilling a drink or a meal on your clothing may necessitate a quick clothing change. You don't want to have to pull out all of your luggage to find a fresh pair of pants. If you travel with kids, a change of clothing is great in the event of an accident, a spill, or sickness.

Car Cleaning Bag

You never know what might happen during a road trip to pack up some sponges, clean cloths, upholstery cleaner, window cleaner, and some handy wipes in the event of a spill or other incident. Leaving a stain set for too long may cause it to become permanent. Bring some empty grocery bags to collect trash or to be used if someone gets sick.

Extra Cash/Credit Cards

When you are on the road, you may stop for food or bathroom breaks. At any time you can easily lose your wallet or forget your purse. If something like that should happen, you'll survive by keeping a back up credit card and some cash in the glove compartment of the car to get you through temporarily. Keep the cash in an envelope with your car registration, insurance information, and other vital driving documents you may need on the road.
