New research has revealed that in the spring months, hay fever sufferers will drive a total of nine million miles with their eyes shut, which is a worrying statistic.
Kwik fits research says that twenty eight percent of drivers suffer from hay fever, and the most severe sufferers sneeze, on average, once a minute. Over half a million people admit that they have lost control of their vehicle due to sneezing, and two point six million have looked away from the road while they search for a tissue. A million motorists claimed to have had to pull over due to a sneezing fit, and streaming eyes.
Allergy experts say that the number of hay fever sufferers will triple over the next two decades, as one in two motorists in the 18 – 24 year age group suffer from the affliction, with only 16% of the over sixty fives suffering the same.
