Drop Of Tata Nano Sales In November 2010
The car wonder of the Tata Motors group, the Tata Nano, has shown not quite an impressive start if the sales figures are to be based. The smallest and cheapest car available in the Indian market right now has a decline of 509 units in November compared to the 3, 065 units sold in the last month. This decrease in the sales of the Tata Nano could be attributed to the recall of the car by the company in order to fix the small car is reported to catch fire a couple of times. If the year-on-year sales of the car model are to be compared, it would show that for the month of November, the sales have fallen to about 85 percent lower as compared to the November sales last year. It is reported that Tata Nano caught fire for the sixth time in August since its launching in March 2009. The last fire incident happened in New Delhi. The incident took place just after the company declared that the vehicle is safe. Overall, there are 54, 622 units registered total sale of the unit over the 54, 108 cars sale of last year. The Tata Nano is a low-cost, rear-engined car with a four-passenger capacity. It is aimed primarily at the Indian domestic market. It utilizes Gandhian engineering, a concept that involves deep frugality and a willingness to challenge the existing conventional wisdom. Being the cheapest car available in the market, short for one lakh, many of the families that are not able to afford such cars before are able to own the car.
