Full Body Kits - What Type is Best for You?

Body kits are truly phenomenal in that they can transform the look of your car from dull to spectacular. A body kit has some unique features that, with common protocol, will ensure satisfaction with what it can do for a car. Most body kits are designed to improve a car's speed with aerodynamics.

Lowering the kit forces the air to pass over the car more efficiently. The kit focuses on the underside and the bottom half of the car, and none of the other parts of the car that contribute to its ground effects.

Between the two most commonly offered choices for body kits of urethane and fiberglass, both offer some appeals and drawbacks. Rugged urethane doesn't damage easily and is quite resistant to bumps; however, a damaged urethane body cannot be repaired and will have to be replaced. Fiberglass costs less than urethane because it more fragile and liable to need repairs. Nonetheless, it can be repaired, often quite easily, and is generally more elegant with a much better finish and paint that covers it more elegantly and wholly.

The real deciding factor between the two, as fiberglass offers ostensibly a better value, comes down to necessity, as determined by the climate and meteorology of an area. In other words, people who are frequently subjected to vast amounts of snow or poorly maintained roads will need urethane. Those who live in more mild conditions have no need for the more expensive and rugged option, and should opt for fiberglass.

Carbon fiber is the third type of material used in full body kits. A third, strong and lightweight type of material used in full body kits is carbon fiber. This is a popular choice for those looking not just to improve their car in practical terms and wish to impart their own aesthetic sensibility. Quite simply, they can make a car more elegant and graceful. Body kits can often include a wing or spoilers. A front spoiler can greatly reduce the aerodynamic drag on a car, and a rear spoiler helps increase traction during acceleration.

The price for a body kit ranges from $100 - $500. Regular car maintenance is important for a body kit to operative effectively. This includes regular cleaning and at least semi-annual waxing.

Simple things like always leaving the car in a garage and giving it a protective cover will continue to extend the general well being and lifetime of the car and body kit as well as maintain its visual appeal.
