Honda Brio Going Head To Head With Maruti Swift
The Honda Brio prototype was unveiled at the 27th Thailand International Motor Expo, 2010 by the big name Japanese car maker, Honda Motors. The company wishes to introduce this latest model small car in the Thai and Indian auto markets. This new small car model serves as a very important step from the Honda Motors company to cater in the increasing Asian auto markets. Last November 30, the model was unveiled to the Thai market as it is how things are done in there. The new car is going to be different for the Indian market also. Honda Motors already exhibited the prototype of the Honda Brio in the Delhi Auto Expert early this year. This new car will be marketed under the hatchback segment in India which is already in a euphoria of small cars from different companies. Lately, the market is dominated by the Indian auto czar Maruti Suzuki the Maruti Swift of India. Based on the reports, the Honda Brio is speculated to be released before the festive season in India next year. The price of the hatchback from Honda is expected to be around Rs 5 lacs. India is seen to hold this great potential in the small car segment because 70 percent of the car market is under this segment. This is the very first time that the company is going to enter such a market. This new car that Honda released is going to fair with Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Hyundai i10, Toyota Etios Liva and Volkswagen Polo in the small market. The Toyota Etios Liva is set to be launched in April 2011. the Honda Brio is also set for shipping plans to other prospective auto markets from India. The President and CEO of the Honda Motors, Takanobu Ito said that the new small car is an important move for the company as it will give new direction to the Asian market. The new model car from Honda will be manufactured in Greater Noida at the Honda Siel unit which has an installed capacity of 100,000 units per year. Based on present data, there are about 65 percent of the unit is being utilized in this assembling such as Honday Jazz, Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord.
