Washing your car without water? You might have heard about this technology, or you may have even tried it and liked it. But most likely waterless car wash is still news to majority people.
Some even perceive it as fraud marketing. However, those who have tried this innovative way for car washing, will most likely agree that its a real and working thing.

The origins

It is a novelty and it isn‘t at the same time. Waterless Car wash idea originated in Australian army due to the need to keep cars cleaned in the draught climate. The technology then outgrew into mass market due to its convenience.
Waterless car wash products are of course most popular in countries and regions with the strict water consumption regulations, i.e. UK, USA, and Australia. Likewise it is in Holland, where it is suggested not to wash the cars or water the lawns on hot summer days.  But recently, this technology is rapidly taking over its market share in various European countries.

Envirinmental issues

However, most of them old technologies that are still found in the market contain hazardous, toxic materials and are indeed very harmful for both – environment and health. The new generation waterless car care products are opposite to those – no harsh chemicals and toxins make them really environmentally friendly. Water saving is a huge bonus here!

Why is it becoming so popular? Experts have counted that it takes from 80 to 380 litres of water to clean one vehicle. Additionally, eco-friendly car wash products eliminate toxic run-off and help to escape hazardous inhales. This is extremely important for indoor cleaning. And not only that – for most people it's the economy and the convenience that counts the most. To completely wash the car one just needs to have a bottle of waterless car wash and two special microfiber towels to wipe of the dirt and buff the car. Nothing else! So people can simply wash their cars anywhere outside or inside in just minutes – depending on how dirty the car is.
It takes around 150 ml of the product to wash the car, so one bottle can clean up to 3 cars, if you are experienced.

How - to

For those, who have never tried similar products – here is a simple picture: it takes around 20 minutes to wash the entire vehicle. When the product is sprayed on the car, the detergents and wetting agents in the product combine to soften and emulsify surface grime. The unique formula is designed to lift the dirt away from your car‘s paint to help ensure a scratch-free finish. The powerful plant-based surfactants dissolve grime quickly, while polymers leave a slick finish. The product leaves your car extremely shiny and works almost as effective as a car wax. You just need to clean the dirt with a special towel and then polish the car with a second one.
Usually people people worry about scratching the car paint and thus feel insecure about using such technology. Indeed, some cheap substitutes are not that trustworthy, but it's always advisable to look for some third party proof that the products will not scratch the car paint and will work as it talks. Look for some certificates, proving that it will not scrach the car paint (i.e. Bureau Veritas)
Nevertheless, the concern about scratching the car paint is very sensible, certainly. And yes, if the car is extremely dirty, it is always suggested to better rinse the dirt of your car before using the product.
However in most cases, drivers are freed from the hoses and buckets, cage of various chemical products and muddy bogs and can wash their cars anywhere in the city or even on the meadow.

The future is here

Even experts and market researchers claim that Waterless is for sure the wave of the future. Due to water restrictions, washing your car in your driveway is already heavily restricted in a number of countries. So the convenience, the economy, and the environmental issues are definitely going to enthral the drivers.
