January sales figures of car manufactures
Last year was a particularly good year for the Indian car market. A number of new launches across the board and healthy sales figures throughout the year were the highlights of 2010. Some carmakers have announced their results for the first month of the New Year and here is how they performed: General Motors has announced elaborate plans for India, even suggesting the launch of its sports car Camaro in the country. In January Chevrolet managed to sell 296 units of Optra, 715 units of Cruze, 240 units of Aveo, 331 units of UVA, 1691 units of Tavera, 3267 units of Spark, 3338 units of Beat and 91 Captiva units. Italian carmaker Fiat sold 947 units of Linea, 1203 units of G Punto and 24 units of Volvo S60. While American carmaker Ford sold 8616 units of its award winning hatchback Figo, 1059 units of Fiesta and 351 units of Endeavour.HM-Mitsubishi sold 94 Pajero, 69 Outlander, 21 Lancer and Cedia, 2 Montero and about 450 Ambassadors.
Carmaker Honda saw a slight rise in the sales of City that sold 5059 units. Other models like Civic, Accord, Jazz and CRV sold 508, 174, 579 and 38 units respectively.On the other side of the spectrum Hyundai, known for its small cars and hatchbacks, sold 4648 units of Santro, 16,694 units of i10, 5773 units of i20, 1317 units of Accent, 1858 units of Verna, 11 units of Sonata and 5 Santa Fe units.India-based carmaker Mahindra and Mahindra managed to sell 1120 units of Logan, 2733 units of Xylo, 4304 units of Scorpio and 8463 units Bolero. Whereas, the country's largest carmaker Maruti sold 1876 units of Maruti 800, 8059 units of Omni, 33118 units of Alto, 3652 units of Estilo, 14186 units of WagonR, 9771 units of Dzire, 2159 units of SX4, 5886 units of Eeco, 11353 units of Swift, 4124 units of A-Star, 6046 units of Ritz, 191 units of Gypsy and 1 Grande Vitara.
Skoda India sold 630 units of Laura, 1460 units of Fabia, 391 units of Superb and 344 units of Yeti. While the Yeti's contemporary Tata Aria sold 321 units. Apart from Aria Tata Motors sold 6703 units of Nano, 10591 units of Indica, 8456 units of the Indigo and Manza, 2187 units of Sumo, 1796 units of Safari and 158 Venture multi purpose vehicle.Toyota Kirlosker Motors (TKM) had two successful models last year – Fortuner and the recently launched Etios sedan. The company sold 1103 units of Fortuner, 1651 units of Etios, 5284 units of Innova, 490 units of Corolla Petrol, 649 units of Corolla D4D, 3 units of Camry, 3 units of Prado, 1 Landcruiser and 1 hybrid Prius Volkswagen managed to sell 3023 units of the Polo, 247 units of Jetta, 20 units of Beetle, 2308 units of Vento, 2 Passat and 1 Phaeton. Along with a number of other carmakers Volvo too launched new models last year. In January 2011 the carmaker has been able to sell 4 units of its luxury sedan S80, 26 units of XC60 and 9 units of XC90.
