Maruti Kizashi to launch on 2nd Feb
Maruti, the leading small car manufacturer of India will be launching its newest luxury car Maruti Kizashi in the last days of January. The car was formally unveiled in Uadipur last week. MSIL is already is already a leader in the small car market of India and its flagship model Alto, was the leading small car globally in 2010. But many are questioning the viability and the success for the company's foray into the larger luxury segment. For example, this leading small car manufacturing company has earlier made a little headway in the larger luxury segment with Baleno and Grand Vitara. Even SX4 sales are doing nothing special to write home about at 1800-2000 units. Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager, Marketing of MSIL says the requirement of a diesel variant has affected the sales of SX4 and the company is presently planning to launch a diesel version this year. Maruti Kizashi is powered by a 2.4 litre, 4 cylinder petro engine and would be available in both manual and automatic transmission variants. However, the expected main competitors of Kizashi – Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are also boasting the same features. But Maruti is claiming that the engine of Maruti Kizashi will be more fuel efficient in comparison to its competitors offerings. The vehicle will be imported from Japan and is hoped to priced at Rs. 18-20 lakh. The company is obviously considering that it has winner in Maruti Kizashi. Mayank Pareek, managing director officer (marketing and sales department) says that Kizashi is expected to complete their product range. He added that their company wants to offer a choice to the Maruti Suzuki consumer who wants to upgrade to the luxury segment. Maruti Kizashi has exclusively positioned as luxury sports sedan and the features we are providing at the price will surely attract the buyers. But how the buyers will respond is still a mystery as Toyota and Honda are already reputed brand names in the segment.
