Naples GMC Envoy dealer excited to see revolution in American auto industry

"Mortimer, we're back!" Now, whether the Trading Places brothers ever actually reclaimed their fortunes we may never know, but no so for the U.S. auto industry.

That's right world, look out because the American auto industry is back in the game. At least that's what they're telling us, and from profit reports it looks like the truth. For Naples GMC Envoy customers, this means better quality products and competitive prices.

Yes, even with the auto industry making a rebound, manufacturers, especially those in the U.S., must remain competitive and keep quality above par or they will quickly crash and burn. GM has already showed huge profit gains and paid back about $6 billion of the money the government (we) loaned them. Good for them!

For many in the U.S. this comes as a surprise, as they had already pounded the final nail in the coffins of GM and Chrysler. (Ford escaped the worst criticism by staying financially solvent.) But they are back in a big way and we need to be happy about it and supportive of it. It means jobs and income for Americans and America. J.D. Power and Association is even declaring the U.S. auto industry back. In an Initial Quality Study evaluating 2010 models with the fewest problems, driver satisfaction for American models was ahead of imports this year. That's the first time they've done so since 1997.

We are all just slow to realize just how well the U.S. auto makers are doing and apparently what high quality products they are making. David Sargent, VP of global research for J.D. Power, agrees, "Domestic automakers have made impressive strides in steadily improving vehicle quality, particularly since 2007. This year may mark a key turning point for U.S. brands as they continue to fight the battle against lingering negative perceptions of their quality."

General Motors has two of the five vehicles considered the most significant American-produced by J.D. Power and Associates. The Chevy Cruze with its compact look and mid-sized interior is getting kudos from all sides. With 138 horsepower it's very efficiently and the Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder gets 40 mph highway.

With a plethora of safety options like 10 air bags, electronic stability control and traction control all standard fare and some little luxury touches like 18-inch alloy wheels and leather seats available as options, but Cruze is a car for any budget and any taste. Naples GMC Envoy owners will want to consider the Cruze as a second vehicle.

The Chevy Volt, GM's other star of the moment, is an all-electric plug-in that can go 40 miles with no gas assistance. When the battery gets low, a gasoline generator will recharge it and extend the drive for up to 300 more miles. And get this - it only takes three hours of being plugged in to completely recharge! Amazing when you think about some of the current and past versions of chargeable batteries.
