Trying to find a real public car auction can prove to be a discouraging task. I know this because about a year ago, I had to search for my brother who had wrecked his Honda Civic. He really didn't have the money to get a new car, nor did he make enough to finance one. My only thought was to try finding a public car auction.

I was able to look at auctions in other cities and states too.
I ended up finding a public car auction in town that same day. Long story short, we got my brother a really nice all black Mercedes that only had 31,000 miles on it, for less than $1,300. The deals at this public car auction were so good I just had to get something for myself. I found a nice Range Rover that only had 18,422 miles on it, and bought it for only $600 more than we paid for my brothers Mercedes.
