The Innovations of SAAB

Posted: Feb 04, 2011 |Comments: 0 |
SAAB is a vehicle line that has a very interesting stigma associated with it. This Swedish auto maker has been known for innovation, pioneering significant advancements in ergonomics, safety, turbocharging, and green technology. SAAB started off as a manufacturer of aircraft specifically for the Swedish Air Force, but after the planes didn't end up needing to be used in World War II, the company looked to diversify and decided to build automobiles.  Most people think of SAAB as an outlier among the traditional vehicle makes, and for good reason. This auto manufacturer has a slew of innovations that have helped shape the auto industry of today.

The first major innovation introduced by SAAB was the GT 750 coming fitted with the first seat belts as standard in 1958. They helped lead the way for safety but many times made new moves toward comfort and making that comfort standard. In 1970 they were the first auto maker to introduce headlamp wipers and washers and the following year they were the first to include heated front seats fitted as standard. Since these major innovations in the earlier years of this auto manufacturer, they have had innovations including the first passenger compartment air filter, the first split-field side mirror, the first to offer CFC-free air-conditioning, all the way to fitting the first ventilated front seats.

With all of these innovations, it is no wonder why SAAB has garnered the reputation of being a cutting edge automobile with comfort that surpasses most all of it's competitors. Although comfort is very important to SAAB, safety is probably the highest priority for this auto maker. All vehicles are subject to the Algtest (Elk Test) because elk are very common in Sweden and cause many accidents every year. SAAB vehicles have very high crash ratings and many people trust them as one of the safest vehicle lines available.

In addition to all of these innovations constantly coming out of this company, they also offer great owner benefits to make sure that you have an all around satisfied experience with their vehicles. This includes a no-charge scheduled maintenance program for the first three years or 36,000 miles on all 2011 SAAB vehicles. This comes with an additional 50,000 mile bumper to pumper limited warranty. With all of these benefits paired with innovations unmatched by any other auto maker, SAAB has done a great job at building a vehicle that is truly worthy of purchasing.
