Toyota gave the consumer two engine options; the inline four cylinder petrol with a DOHC and 16 valves and came in size ranges of 1.8 and 2.0 L as well as a 2.2 L Diesel.
Toyota released the second generation of the Starlet in 2001, and was largely based on the Toyota Avensis platform. This second generation Ipsum was sold in the Japanese and European markets. It was sold in the previously mentioned markets as the Avensis Verso, and marketed as just the Avensis in the Australian market place.
The updated Ipsum featured a larger wheelbase, and more interior space that could seat seven people comfortably. It was available with the standard 2.0 L and 2.4 L petrol engines, but also offered was the 2.0 L 116 Turbo Diesel.
The Ipsum comes with armchair comfort seating which can be easily removed or pushed down to allow for the driver to transport larger items should the need arise. In October 2003, some minor changes were made to the Ipsum. The interior got an updated look and a high-end feel. This upgrade improved the over all look and feel of the Ipsum, making it more desirable to consumers.
When you’re choosing a vehicle, one of the selling features that attracts a lot of buyers is the over all style and look. The Toyota Ipsum presented the consumers with an alternative to all those plain jane, squarish looking mini vans. It is a very stylish looking vehicle that also offers the reliability and high quality that is built into to every vehicle that Toyota has been known for over the years.
The Ipsum is a very practical, cleverly designed vehicle, which is very pleasurable to drive. The interior can be reconfigured in some minor areas to provide for each to be unique as their owner’s desire. The Ipsum has an over all low operating costs, and is a tremendous value for the money that they are sold for.
It used to be that you’d only look into purchasing a mini van if you had a family, or were expecting to start a family. With the clever design of the Ipsum, this is not the case anymore. They have become increasingly people with people from all walks of life, especially with the elderly population. They have proven to be easy to climb in and out of, which tends to get harder as people get older. In Hong Kong the Ipsum has become one of the most popular vehicles on the road. Most of the Ipsum models that are available in the market place have seats that can be easily moved around to create an interior that fits with the consumers every wish, so they have even become popular as a work vehicle.
The Toyota Ipsum comes available in a 2.0 L 16 valve engine that produces 135 horsepower. The 2.0 was offered in a two wheel drive and four wheel drive models. This engine was produced in the 1996 to 2001 versions. Toyota offer a 2.4 L 16 valve two and four wheel drives. This produces a respectable 160 horsepower. This engine option was originally offered in 2001 and continues until the present day. No matter which engine type is chosen, they both provide enough power and performance to keep up on any of the highways or interstates.
