The year of the electric car is announced!

Posted: Dec 14, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

The Electric vehicle is to become a common household item whether it is a new Peugeot Ion or even a new Citroen. Kent and the rest of the UK have been notified that the year of the electric car has been named by the Government as next year, 2011. Cars that are eligible for grants will shortly be announced but only after the three main electric vehicles go on sale next month. The government is seeking a real change in the way we perceive our everyday travels and car usage.

The Government early this morning announced that up to a 25% grant will be given when each vehicle is purchased and that over 4000 power points are deemed to be fixed into place throughout the UK in 2011. Although the average electric car is set to cost around eighteen thousand pounds, the Government have stated they are still backing this radical change in the way we perceive renewable energy and fuel emissions. Customers with a sense of ownership and pride will in fact buy these small, compact electric cars because they will want to buy into the way of life.

Cars to be launched as early as January next year include the Mitsubishi i-Miev, Peugeot Ion and Smart Fortwo.  Electric models to follow in March include the new Nissan Leaf and Tata Vista. To follow on the campaign from 2011 straight into 2012 is Chevrolets' Volt, Citroen C Zero, the much anticipated Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid and the new Vauxhall Ampera.

When customers purchase either the Mitsubishi i-Miev, Eon, Smart Fortwo or even a new Citroen car, they will be buying into a forward, revolutionary way of thinking. Environmentally conscious attitudes will pave the way for future generations, automotive technology and the Government is set right behind to push it.

With so much choice such as the brand new electric Vauxhall in 2012 or the new Citroen, Kent and the rest of the UK is set to take the electric automotive world by storm.
