Top 5 things to know about buying a new car

Posted: Mar 12, 2011 |

When purchasing a new car, it is important to remember what is needed out of the vehicle. This varies by consumer individually. Purchasing a new car is a big decision for anyone to make, therefore; that consumer must remember certain things before purchasing any new cars.

First thing to remember is the salesman is not your friend. All salesman are employed by car lots for one thing and one thing only: to make money. He is not there to be a friend, or get the consumer to pay the least amount, he is there to get as much money for the purchase as possible. Next thing to remember is that without the consumer, the dealership would not be there.

The dealership strives on making customers happy, and if the consumer is not pleased, they will not return. Additionally potential customers may not recommend the dealership. If the deal is not being done in the proper time or fashion, feel free to contact the manager or owner and express the concerns to them, and this is also a great way to get the best price as well. Don't be afraid to take the car for a test drive. Every dealership should allow you to take the car for a spin. The third thing to remember is that there is always another dealership down the street, if the first dealership will not do what you want, go down the street.

If they do not have the perfect car, keep looking, eventually the right one at the right price will be found. Make list of what features are important for you and are a must. Also have a list of "nice to have" features that may be on the wish list.Fourth, the bottom dollar price the dealership gives you on their new cars is not the actual bottom dollar. Keep hounding them on the price you want until they break, they will break. The final thing to remember is that the customer is always right. Some salesman will try and get consumers into a car they do not want, this is not acceptable, the customer knows what the perfect car is, do not let the salesman trying to persuade you or get you into a deal that isn't really a deal.

Keep these ideas in mind when purchasing new cars. Remembering how to shop for a new car will come in very handy when dealing with pushy salesman.
