Right now, the company plans to bring up another small car that would be positioned below Toyota Etios Liva to utilize the fastest growing auto sector to their advantage. Just recently, the company released the much anticipated Toyota Etios sedan and on April 2011, the Toyota Etios Liva, the hatchback version, will also be released. According to reliable sources, the company will also build the small car on the same lines of the sedan model that was launched recently in India. According to Yoshinori Noritake, the Chief Engineer for Product Planning of Toyota, the Toyota Etios design was structured in various ways. When it comes to the small car, there will be a lot of scope for accumulating and subtracting the different features according to requirements. He also added that the sedan version has a huge potential which could be explored and used to make the small car version. The company is said to have invested Rs 3,200 crore for the manufacturing of Toyota Etios platform and this has paved way for makers to utilize the platform and come up with multi-purpose use in its vehicle. Just recently, the company inaugurated a new manufacturing unit in Bidadi, Karnataka which is especially built for the manufacturing of Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva. Aside from their other goals, the company also eyes on rolling out 70, 000 units every year. For four years, the company's 2 000 engineers in making the technological wonder- the Toyota Etios. Noritake further said, on the development of the new car, that the automobile engineers used to take the car designs to suppliers and order the material specifications- this was the case for the other car models by the company but things are different with Toyota Etios. In this case, the engineers researched and inquired the suppliers and agents on the components and used the information to build the car design with the price constraint but always putting the quality in good and high standard. The process was able to open them to insights about the car. He also said that the Toyota Etios engine area is a bit spacious which may be utilized further for manufacturing cars in various segments.
