Used Cars – Go for the Best Deal

Buying a car, new or used, can be a big decision for many. You never know how long you will have to live with your choice. When it comes to buying a used car you need to be more careful. Whether you buy a used Lexus or Ford or a Toyota, the process of purchasing secondhand cars is more complicated than that of buying a brand new vehicle.

Choosing the right model:

The very first step of the process will be gathering information, as much as possible, about the old car. If possible ask for experts’ view. You can do your own research upon different models of cars, their prices and technical features.

Again, the condition of the car deteriorates with its age. Your budget, requirements and driving style should also be taken into consideration. So, choose models that suit your lifestyle and serve your purpose. Finally you can go for test drives with same type of cars of different brands.

If used Ford Mustang is your choice, then you have variants such as Ford Mustang V6 Deluxe, Mustang SVO, Mustang SVT Cobra and many more. Lexus is also available in different models like Lexus Rx 350, ES 350 and LS 460.

Those who need an all purpose vehicle for transportation, can opt for used GMC trucks or used Toyota trucks. These truck models are heavy vehicles with spacious interior. GMC Sierra, Toyota Tacoma trucks are popular buys.

Sources of used cars:

There are different outlets from where you can buy used cars. Car dealers are common choice. They sell both new and secondhand cars. You can buy directly from the car owner if you know him or her. Newspaper classifieds will take you to individual car owners willing to sell his or her car.

Do not forget to enquire the reasons for selling the car. Make sure that the car is checked by your mechanic before finalizing the deal. In pre-owned car showrooms you get a range of used cars to choose from. It is advisable that you buy from car dealers rather than buying from used car dealers to make a good deal. Car dealers provide maintenance service and warranty.

Things to check:

Once you settle for a model then there are several things to check. Go through the documents of the car. Check the year of registration. A 3 to 5 year old car that has not traveled more than 18000 km per year will be the right option.

Check out engine as well as the odometer reading of the car. A well maintained engine takes smooth start and does not emit smoke. Make sure that you buy a car that has Pollution Under Control certificate.

Car road test:

The last but not the least is test drive. It is an essential part of car purchase process. Take a 3 to 4 Km ride for test drive. Rough surface and winding roads are ideal for test driving. Apply brake at about 50 km per hour speed. If the car does not stop in a straight line there is problem with brakes.

Vibrating steering indicates trouble at the front end of the car. Check whether the clutch can be pulled with least effort. Make sure speedometer and mileage recorder are functioning properly.

Going through all these steps will ensure a good deal. Hope you get the best deal and enjoy driving all the way.
