On the first look it sounds like another James Bond Movie where his car will be running on water. Well it’s not a brain surgery to run car on water, it involves simple formula from chemistry where water can be used to extract gases that can run car comfortably. As on date we do not have a formula that runs a car 100% on water. These water run hybrid cars still use gas along with water as a source of energy.
Water powered cars have indeed been a subject of research in recent years as scientists are constantly finding ways to derive energy from water “without using any energy in the process of doing so”---only then can the research on the “WATER CAR” receive a boost.
An article in Mobile Magazine in 2006 made a claim that a model of a car powered by water has been built which was able to run for one hundred miles using just four ounces of water. The truthfulness of this claim is yet to be found out.
One school of thought believes in the creation of a “Water Car” by integrating water into the existing fuel system and with it stretching the gas in the gas tank into new lengths. If this were to happen in reality then the car would have an incredible mileage. However the entire study is in such a raw and hazy form that a remarkable progress hasn’t been made.
Another popular school of thought has come up with the view of using a water fuel cell wherein water would be electrolytically split into its components—hydrogen and oxygen. However mechanical engineers at MIT say this would violate the first law of thermodynamics turning out to be a perpetual motion machine. Moreover this concept and nomenclature “water car” do not go parallel to each other as we are talking about a car totally fuelled by water i.e. water providing the driving force.
Water Cars are a completely new concept though water has been previously used in engines like the steam engine.
The greatest advantage of using water cars is that it would be eco friendly. The running car on water kit that we are talking about releases oxygen to atmosphere and you are smart enough to figure that oxygen is what we require to breathe. When the world is troubled with what is known as “Global Warming” and people are facing health hazards due to breathing in of foul air, the advent of a “Water Car” would be a welcoming respite. Also automobile companies will profit a lot, as oil would be completely replaced by water.
The major automobile makers are silent over the question of “Water Car” as they want to keep their profit margins safe. A lot of fraud has been associated with the concept of “Water Cars” with many people claiming to possess the technique to build a water car and thereby deceiving the customers. Running car on water have been installed by many car owners world wide to help in cost cutting as gas prices are increasing every now and then, well at the writing on this article its already touched $135/gallon, who knows where it will be by the end of this year as they are already forecasting it to be double within next couple of months.
