Your Choices in Custom Exterior Lights

While adding power and performance to your ride is vital, you cannot neglect the aesthetic aspect of vehicle customization.  There are several ways to ramp up the look and style of your car.  Body kits, color changing paint jobs, towering wing spoilers and custom wheels can all change the way your car looks.  However, if you're looking for a great (and relatively inexpensive) way to change your ride's appearance, your exterior lights can be the best place to start.  So, what can you find in the way of custom exterior lighting?

Taillights: Custom taillights can give your ride an incredible look and greater functionality. OEM taillights are infamous for their bland looks and low performance.  Euro taillights and other styles can dramatically change the way your car or truck looks.  Most taillights are available in a variety of colors and finishes, from the likes of crystal clear to carbon fiber and deep red.  Smoked lenses and LED technology provide additional options for your needs. If you want to increase the looks of your ride without the need to cut, drill or trim, purchase a set of taillights made to fit your specific vehicle.  LED technology is a great look and a great way to get a long lasting lighting solution; however, you will not find it available for all vehicles.

Headlights: Your headlights say a lot about your car.  In addition, they are often one of the first parts of your car to show visible signs of aging.  Pitting, yellowing and cracking are all common problems with OEM headlights, as well as the dull looks and low-end styling.  Changing out your headlights can give your car a dramatic facelift. Projector headlights are currently the most popular aftermarket lighting type.  These provide pure white light, great range and a stylish look for your ride.  You can also find stylish headlights that use traditional halogen bulbs, as well. H1, H3, H4, H7 and H13 halogen bulbs are widely available. Find out if your new headlights come with new bulbs (most don't, you'll need to have new bulbs on hand).

Fog Lights: Few accessories will set off your ride as much as a set of custom fog lights.  You'll find two varieties from which to choose: in bumper and exterior mounted.  In-bumper fog lights will require the removal of your bumper cover and a little bit of cutting in order to install them.  Exterior mounted fog lights mount with screws or bolt to any flat surface on your car, such as the underside of your bumper, the recesses of your grill and more.  Either type is an excellent way to dramatically increase your light emission, as well as the look of your ride.  Most fog lights are universal, though you will find some sets that are vehicle specific.  Vehicle specific sets will give you a more streamlined look.  Find out if the fog lights come with bulbs (many do, though you will find some sets that do not include bulbs).

The type of wheels that you put on your car can have a big influence on the overall appearance of the car. If you like shiny and sleek looking tires, you should opt for chrome wheels. Chrome alloy wheels have a base of aluminum or steel and an upper coat of chromium. The chromium plating not only gives the wheel a glossy sheen but also makes it stronger. The mirrored glaze that chromium-electroplating gives to automobile wheels, makes chrome alloy wheels a hit with car enthusiasts.

It's a known fact that children can at times drive their parents up the wall, but a five year old boy from Chichester, West Sussex, literally drove his mums 4x4 into a wall - fortunately managing to escape without serious injury. Thomas Chatfield "could barely see over the dashboard or reach the pedals of the automatic Mitsubishi Shogun", according to Sky News, but that didn't stop him trundling along at 10mph along a duel carriageway section of the A27 until finally crashing into a wall.
