Catastrophic Impact of Ecological Contamination Bitterly Felt Now

I would love to live in New York and enjoy the power it holds. I would love to live in London, watching my language spreading through the world. I would love to live in Paris, a native of the world’s fashion capital, art capital and wine capital. I would love to live in Reo-de-jenero whenever the world cup is on. I would love to live in Rome, revealing in its immutably styled sports cars. I would love to live in Berlin, through, professionalism, efficiency, punctuality it holds and feel the power of words its people hold. I would love to live in Sydney, fighting till the last ball and winning. I would love to live in Tokyo and feel proud of what it has achieved in just a few decades. I would love to live in Barcelona where the world goes for a holiday. I would love to say, I’m from Switzerland and that none can beat us in banking. I would love to be Caribbean, teaching the world to rage and relax. I would love to march ahead with a billion countrymen like the Chinese. I would love to be an example setting Singaporean. Despite all those mighty feelings I’d love and proud of my Dhaka city. I’d love to make people envious just by saying I’m Bangladeshi even if it goes under water for the rise of sea level and global warming. I’d love to make you believe that it’s possible. I’d love to make you believe in yourself although there is lots of life threatening environmental issues started to alarm.Let’s see what Frank Faanon said from Malthas theory for less developed countries “To the punishment, therefore, of nature he should be left the punishment of want. At nature’s mighty feast, there is no vacant cove for him. She tells him to be gone.” If you want to stay alive you should stay ahead—that’s what we can conclude if we study the environmental aspects of this part of the world and Dhaka city historically since the era of subedar Islam Khan during the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir. Now about 15 million people reside in Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh. Industry, educational institutes, vehicle etc. are increasing rapidly not in a proper way ignoring the inhabitant facilities. In a word, whoever wishes to do something, he/ she are doing that ignoring the further consequences. For convenience let me divide Dhaka in the following way:--

Commercial area: Motijheel, Dilkusha, Karwanbazar, ChalkBazar, Polton etc.

Industrial area: Tajgaon, Postagola, Hazaribag, Tongi, Mirpur etc.

Area with Educational institute: Ramna, Nilkhet, Siddeshshori, Victoria Park etc.

Park and Open area: Ramna, Shorourdi uddan, Osmani uddan, Sher-e-bangla-Nagar, Gulshan, Mirpur Zoo and Botanical Garden etc.

It’s true that directly or indirectly by the activities of people, our environment is getting contaminated. In a word, any change of physical and chemical structure which is unfavorable to us is called

pollution/contamination
. Now before prosecuting few savage issues of Dhaka city environment let me tell you a story of four people named Mr. Water, Mr. Soil, Mr. Air and Mr. Sound. There was an important job to be done and water was asked to do it. Water was sure Air would do it. Sound could have done it—that Mr. Soil thought. But Sound didn’t do that. Air got angry about that, because it was Water’s job. Water thought Soil could do it, but Sound realized that Water wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Water blamed Air when sound didn’t what Soil could have done. Let us not go into the details of who is who in the drama, but we may be heading for a similar climax. It means exactly what it means. We are talking about our environment, but we don’t know the real enemy. This is the real scenario among four main pollutions named water, air, sound and soil pollution in my country. Let me go through that primitive clannish hooligan (!) who is going to erase my beautiful country from the world map within centuries--- The waste of water, it is enough to make you weep Water is the central issue for all alive creatures. Water: Land = 60:40 in Bangladesh. In our Dhaka city water is polluted generally by industrial sewage, domestic sewage, market and hospital wastages etc. We alone are sole responsible for the alarming condition emerged. There isn’t any strong pollution control unit for around 1500 industries in Dhaka such as Tannery, Cement, Plastic, Textile, Rubber, Chemical, Jute mills, Fertilizer etc. which produces poisonous waste containing copper, led, cyanide etc. Many environmentalists believe that if this situation continues, water will reach in unusable position few years later.Every single man produce half kilogram of waste per day that leads to 4000 metric tons of waste in a total. In our daily life we use detergent powder, soap with less starch that are insoluble. All these pollute water. But the long term effects are dangerous. These wastes together with water produces Lichet which contains Chloride, Copper, Sodium, Led etc—that

Child & Sexual Abuse by Catholic Church/Should the Catholic Church Call itself Christian?

By: Susanne Prestle | 30/11/2009
A move has been made by a small group of people against such shameful sham Christianity. They’ve put out a website and call themselves “The Free Christians for the Christ of the Sermon on the Mount in All Cultures Worldwide.” At this website they announce a lawsuit against the Catholic Church. As they put it, they do not want to remain silent anymore on the “brazen labelling fraud,” with which Christ is mocked and His name abused to such an extent.

The Present Political Turmoil in My Country

By: Reeaz Uddin | 23/04/2007 | Politics
All my childhood dreams crushed into real life for the socio-political upsurge since the independence of my country in 1971 from Pakistan. Now sometimes I feel pity for those poor souls who devoted. Being almost of that age of this country, I’m also practicing life on the cruel surface of this blood wretched part of the world in the hardest way... this is what life is all about right now in Bangladesh.
