For more information on the State and Federal news reagarding the Second Amendment---We The People
The Brady Campaign is losing ground. This is a bold statement, and will most definitly bring Ton's of Gun Control groups pounding on the door, and screaming. The Brady Campaign no doubt is the "Figurehead" of so many groups, groups dedicated to rewriting or eliminating the rights of the people, Via The Second Amendment. I am not saying that this assault on the Second Amendment is over, I am saying---They are Losing.
The Brady Campaign cannot be happy with numerous States that have adopted Concealed Carry in the last few years. The fact that so many States have Concealed Carry, and the number is growing is a reflection of the strength of their campaign. This opinion that the right to bear arms stated, does not apply directly to "The People" no longer seems to be a major benefit to them.
Statement From the Brady Campaign: "We've lost the battle on what the Second Amendment means," campaign president Paul Helmke told ABC News. "Seventy-five percent of the public thinks it's an individual right. Why are we arguing a theory anymore? We are concerned about what we can do practically."
"Seventy-five percent of the public thinks it's an individual right. Why are we arguing a theory anymore?" I think He should have said "Seventy-five percent of the public know's it's an idividual right. Why are we arguing our opinions anymore?" Nonetheless, this does not sound like a Campaign President who is happy with the way things are going.
In a Video taken in D.C., the Brady Campaign Legal Manager quoted the Second Amendment as follows:--" A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. "
Why is it that He left out the words "We The People"? Is it that their main focus on the Second Amendment is to prove that it does not grant the right to bear arms to the people? If it is---Then they are losing ground---"Seventy-five percent of the public thinks it's an individual right. Why are we arguing a theory anymore?"
The D.C. ban prohibits residents from keeping handguns inside their homes and requires that lawfully registered guns, such as shotguns, be locked and unloaded when kept at home.
"We're expecting D.C. to lose the case," Helmke said. "But this could be good from the standpoint of the political-legislative side."
The Brady Legal Manager omits "We The People" from the Second Amendment, The Campaign President states "We're expecting D.C. to lose the case," and "Why are we arguing a theory anymore?" I guess I agree with Mr. Helmke----Their Losing.
This is not to say that the assault on the Second Amendment is over. It will most likely Heat Up. There will always be challenges to one's freedom, however as long as good men and woman do not sit idle, the voice of reason will prevail. The attempt to overshadow the meaning of "The People", with opinions--not facts, will not "Go Away". However Law-Abiding citizens, backed by the Facts, and willing to stand up for what they believe in, is the side I want to be on.
