A Fashionable Musical Smartphone- the Nokia X6

If you didn’t notice the NOKIA booth and the name splashed on top of the screen, you can be forgiven if you thought the handset was a Sony Ericsson Xperia.  But check again, and it’s the latest from the Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia.  The new Nokia X6 kicks off the company’s X-series smartphones expected to hit the market in time for the holiday season.  Unveiled and officially launched in the recent Nokia World conference in Stuttgart, Germany, the new handset is a real eye-candy and should give Sony Ericsson good reason to worry about.

High End Smartphone Features

Making a stand-out fashion statement on its sleek and sexy body that harkens to the Sony Ericsson Xperia and recent LG chocolate handsets, the Nokia signature technical excellence that propelled it to become the world leader in mobile phones is everywhere apparent on the X6.  With features that take the best from its N series phones and spiced with the multimedia capabilities of its XpressMusic, the X6 could very well cap another fruitful year for Nokia with another sure winner.

  • The X6 sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and an accelerometer typical of upscale touchscreen handsets.
  • You get a 5-megapicel autofocus camera using the famous Carl Zeiss lens common in high end Nokia camera phones.  It has dual LED flash, video recording and geo tagging courtesy of its GPS feature.  There’s a TV out for connecting to an external monitor or TV to display your photos and videos in a bigger screen.
  • Multimedia gets a boosts with 35 hours of continuous mp3 playback.  You also get Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP for wireless stereo earphones as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for normal high fidelity headsets.  The X6 is a Comes With Music handset where you can access the Nokia Music Store online for unlimited music downloads.
  • Social networking benefits from instant access to your favorites sites like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as well as instant messaging sites like Yahoo IM right from the homescreen.  Email accounts on Gmail and Yahoo can be integrated into one inbox together with any number of Pop/IMAP email accounts you may have. Its full internet browser is Flash enabled that benefits from high speed HSDPA/HSUPA data connectivity on the 3G network.
  • The Nokia X6 supports A-GPS with digital compass and Nokia/Ovi Maps to assist you on the road safely with its spoken turn-by-turn navigation.
  • Nokia has bundled the X6 with 3 games to round off its on-the-road entertainment experience.  There’s DJ Mix Tour and Asphalt v4.0 from Gameloft as well as Spore from EA.
  • You get a more than generous 32 GB of internal memory to store all your media-rich files to last a week on the road.  No need for microSD cards.

Availability

Expect the new Nokia X6 to hit the markets in time for Christmas at a SIM-free street price of €459 prior to taxes and subsidies.  As anticipated the X6 pricing betrays its position halfway between the Nokia XpressMusic line and the N-series handsets.

By: Simon Drew | 19/11/2009 | Cell Phones
Function over form. That has been the principle behind many of Research In Motion’s (RIM) Smart Phones for many years now. RIM is the maker of the Blackberry family of mobile and smart phones. This probably is the greatest reason why the corporate world prefers Blackberrys over other brands on the market.

Now available in the UK, the Blackberry Bold 9700 is certainly welcomed into our shores as another significant variant in the Blackberry line of mobile phones. Many consider the Bold 9700 as the best model yet offered by Research in Motion (RIM), makers of the Blackberry line of smart phones. With every new release of a Blackberry smart phone, it seems to appear that a compromise somewhere in its features and specifications is in the offing. Be it lack of memory, no 3G or Wi-Fi, a poor performing camera or less than satisfactory OS.

Be Bold with the New Blackberry Bold 9700

By: Simon Drew | 19/11/2009 | Cell Phones
The Blackberry Bold 9700 combines the best in the Blackberry Bold and Blackberry Tour 9360 in an elegant and slimmer device. Not much may have changed from the older versions in the inside and out but the subtle yet bold changes and upgrades to a more industrial and contemporary look would surely be a hit. You can bet the Canadians have pretty good ideas of how beauty should be manifested.
