Posted: Sep 15, 2008 | Comments: 0 | Views: 36 | Bookmark and Share

Believe it or not, camera phones are becoming extremely popular that they are starting to outsell the real thing: digital cameras.

Why do you think this is so? Basically, camera phones are a lot easier to carry around and they are becoming easier to use.  As the technology  behind the manufacturing of mobile phones improved, the nifty features of the trustiest digital camera can now be found in camera phones.

Gone are the days when camera phones can only provide the user with a 'grainy' self-portrait. As the camera phone mega pixels improve, so do the following features;

- Auto focus
- LED flash
- Color effects
- Night vision
- Panoramic view

So what are the things that you should look for when purchasing a camera phone? The rule of thumb is, the higher the megapixel, the better the picture quality. You may also want to look for Xenon, LED or dual-LED flash, as well as other nifty features that you used to only find in digital cameras.

Now, if you are looking for good quality camera phones which can be a convenient replacement for a dedicated digital camera, check out the features included in these two phones: the Sony Ericsson C902 and LG Viewty.

A Review of the Sony Ericsson C902 Camera Phone

First up, here is a quick list of the Sony Ericsson C902 candy bar camera phone:

- 240x320 pixel display
- 3G, GPRS and HDSPA connectivity
- 5 Megapixel camera with LED photo light
- Video recording
- MP3 player and FM radio
- 160 MB internal memory

When you consider the fact that the Sony Ericsson C902 has a 5-Megapixel camera with LED photo light - it may seem as if it can replace a dedicated digital camera.

However, you may be disappointed with the fact that it does not have a flash which is a standard in traditional and digital cameras.

Overall, the Sony Ericsson C902 is a stylish mobile phone and a good enough camera phone - but it sill would not replace your trusty digicam.

Another Camera Phone to Consider: LG Viewty

The second camera phone that you may be interested in is the LG Viewty. Here is a list of the features of this candy bar mobile phone:

- 240x400-pixel 3-inch, WQVGA display
- 3G, HSDPA, WAP, Bluetooth and USB connectivity
- Touchscreen phone
- 5 Megapixel digital camera

The great thing about the LG Viewty is that when you look at it from the back, it does resemble a digital camera.

It also has a touchscreen interface. The HDSPA allows users to upload videos straight to YouTube.

The downside to using the LG Viewty as a mobile phone is that there is no Wi-Fi feature.  Also, there is no cover for the camera.

Another plus point for the LG Viewty is its photo editing capabilities. When it comes to the nifty features that you are looking for from a camera phone - the LG Viewty is definitely worth checking out.
