People in the mobile industry are being warned about a flood of fake mobile phones in the market – in particular fake copies of the Nokia N95 and Nokia 8800. the fake phones are so convincing that they are actually fooling experienced mobile dealers and retailers. Chinese-based exporters are bringing bigger quantities of fake mobile phones to the UK than ever before.
However, it is not just retailers and dealers that need to be warned, mobile customers also need to be warned! The fake phones are very difficult to spot and even come in identical boxes, with all the usual items like charger, headphones and instruction manual. The phones however, may not work as the genuine phone would, and if any problems arise you could be left with a useless phone as it would not be covered under warranty.
The main things to look out for so that you are not left with a dud phone is to always buy from a genuine retailer, buying a cheap phone from Bob down the local pub may seem like a good idea at the time – but usually only leads to problems! If you are offered a top of the range phone for a few quid – then alarm bells should start ringing.
If you are buying a phone online do your homework – check out the retailer and who owns them, you’d be surprised how many online retailers are owned by high street stores. Buying from a well established store should always instil confidence in your purchase and will give you someone to contact should you have any problems or queries.
All the retailers on OneCompare.com are well established companies, and the majority of them are actually owned by either Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U.
