LG Optimus Chic Preview
The recently announced LG Optimus Chic, unlike its sibling the Optimus One, is a smartphone aimed specifically at a female market. It's a lot more fashionable too, providing users with two colour variants and a simplistic, curvy design, complete with touch resistive buttons to complete the look.
It's a fairly compact device, measuring in at 112.5 x 57 x 12.9 and weighing 132g, which is the perfect size for slipping in your bag or using on the move. With its smooth casing, it also looks like it would sit comfortably within your hand.
The handset comes complete with a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen, complete with a 320 x 480 pixel resolution. Underneath are the touch resistive Android keys - menu, back, home and search. There is no physical keyboard, as you are provided with an on-screen QWERTY keypad, perfect for speedy texting on the move. Unlike its sibling, the Chic doesn't come equipped with Swype, which may put some people off.
The device packs a 600MHz processor alongside Android 2.2 on-board, which brings with it plenty of pre-installed Google apps (Search, Goggles Maps). The Optimus Chic also features a customized user interface, which LG regard as being "fun and friendly", making it easy to use and simple to customize with wallpapers and widgets. The Froyo OS provides instant access to the Android Market which is home to over 80,000 apps, which will almost all be supported due to the smartphones capacitive touchscreen.
Plenty of entertainment features are also provided, including a 5 megapixel camera, which is impressive for an affordable smartphone. The camera comes complete with autofocus, geotagging and VGA video recording capabilities, which produces footage of a standard quality.
A music and video player is also provided, alongside an FM radio. With the 3.5mm audio jack, you can listen to your favourite tunes and radio shows while on the move. You can expand the handsets basic internal memory up to 32GB using its microSD slot, so you have plenty of storage for all of your files. LG Air Sync is also pre-installed, a tool that allows you to wirelessly sync your files between your phone and PC.
The Optimus Chic also has 3G and WiFi connectivity, and with its built-in web browser, surfing the web is made easy. You can also access Facebook and Twitter via the browser, or specific widgets can be downloaded from the Android market.
One let down is the handset's 1250 mAh battery, only allowing up to 5 hours of talk time.
