The Nokia N82 has been attracting a large amount of buzz over the coming months and seems likely to be one of the main launches of the year. Though Nokia maintain the N82 has already been shipped, it will be while before wider distribution is available, so here’s a preview on what this is capable of and what to look out for.
Being Nokia’s second proper 5-Megapixel Carl Zeiss Optics handset, it’s understandable that they may want to keep official details to a minimum, but a look at Nokia’s official site detail an all round device with just as much packed in as the flagship N95 with 3G HSDPA, 100MB internal memory and Wi-Fi as well as many other features. One feature that could set it apart though is the inclusion of a Xenon flash which should further improve Nokia’s photo quality.
An aspect that could be an issue is the size, as the N82 measures in at a similar dimension to the Sony Ericsson K850i, although it is both marginally wider and taller.
Another interesting feature is the screen-auto rotation tool which has been seen before, most notably on Sony Ericsson’s K850i, which may be slightly gimmicky, but certainly looks impressive when employed in the correct manner.
Time will tell if the N82 will live up to it’s billing as an N95 contender and it will certainly be interesting when this is widely released to see if it can compete with Nokia’s current flagship as well as the increasing number of 5MP handsets currently available; a larger screen may have been better suited for this. With the features that are packed into the N82 though, this will definitely be worth a second look once it’s more widely available.
The N82 is currently only available on O2 exclusively but is expected on Vodafone in the near future.
