Despite being the global leader in terms of volume, Nokia have always shied away from slim phones. This was surprising due to the fact that the Finnish manufacturer had atleast one solution for all market segment, no matter how small the niche is. The Nokia 6300 is its company's slimmest phone on offer. This simple candy-bar handset measures mere 11.7 mm in thickness. The devices overall dimensions reads 106.4 x 43.6 x 11.7 mm, and weighs 91 grams. The handset is made up of premium stainless steel that is responsible for its weight. However, the weight feels pleasant to hand, giving an impression of robustness. The Nokia 6300 retains the natural silver colour of its building material with accents of black in and around its large TFT based screen that can deliver more than 16 million colours.
Built in camera module of the Nokia 6300 is 2.0 megapixel. The integrated camera is endowed with all high end imagery aids like photo light and digital zoom. Apart from high resolution stills of up to 1600 x 1200 pixels, you can capture videos at 15 frames per second. The handset houses a media player that is compatible with MP3, MP4, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+ formats. The handset's in built memory of about 7.8 b may not be enough to download a serious mobile music collection, but one can always opt for an external microSD memory card which the Nokia 6300 supports. If that sounds too much of a hassle, you can still enjoy mobile music on the Nokia 6300 on its on board FM radio.
