Nokia E55 on O2 - Nokia E55 with New Qwerty Keypad

Following on from the relase of the recent Nokia E75, Nokia have now further added to their E-Series with the new E55, a business orientated phone with fast communication features.

The Nokia E55 has been launched on O2 tariffs, already available from free at just £20 per month line rental the E55 represents good value for money with the latest technology built-in.

The E55 boasts Nokia's new Qwerty keypad layout, instead of having a slide out keyboard as with the Nokia E75 the E55 adds the Qwerty keypad to the keys on the front of the phone, this allows for fast text input without having to slide out and re-locate the device to write long messages and emails.

Nokia are known for innovation and so it is no surprise to hear about the latest incumbent of the Nokia range of phones due for release soon. The Nokia E55 is a combination handset. By this it means that its attempts to provide numerous options to conduct tasks, by providing alternatives which make this handset a useful tool as well as a mobile phone. The phone measures up at 116 mm x 49 mm wide. It is only 9.9 mm thick, so its extremely slim line.

The phone comes with a 2.4 inch TFT display screen. At 240 x 320 pixels in size, it is large enough to display images with clarity and at reasonable size. The ability to display 16 million colours ensures that colour representation is fulfilling and life like. The phones input methods are ingenious, a unidirectional button offers the means of accessing features, but added to that is a half QWERTY keyboard. This is a clever addition and offers reasonable size keys to input text information in a much quicker fashion, than with other smaller style keys.

The phone operates with an ARM 11 600 MHz processor and uses the Symbian operating system. Both of these are stable and proficient in their ability to multi task and provide an effective platform for the advanced functions contained within the phone.

The phone provides two cameras, one of which is classed as a secondary camera and is used for video calling to other suitably attired mobile phones. The main camera is a 3.2 mega pixel unit which has a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and comes with an enhanced fixed focus and LED flash, for illumination whenever required. The phone comes with internal memory of 60 Mb but this can be expanded up to 16 Gb, by using the microSD slot.

Internet access is provided by the HSDPA and Wi-Fi. GPRS and EDGE as well as Blue tooth and microUSB are also included. Web browsing is exceptionally fast and enjoyable on this handset. GPS is also integrated and uses the useful Nokia maps. An MP3 player and FM stereo radio are provided for musical entertainment.

The Nokia E55 is a comprehensive handset which much like its counterpart, the Nokia N97, offers variety and form in a tastefully designed handset. The unit is due for release within the next few months and will no doubt become a popular choice for mobile phone aficionados.

Although initially launched on O2 the Nokia E55 is expected to be released on Orange contract deals over the next couple of days with further launches from other networks very soon.
