A Tucson, Arizona, woman said an online cell phone directory that helped her track down her daughter who had sneaked out of the house. She said she never thought looking for someone's cell phone number could be so easy.
"It was pretty eerie how quick she caught me," said Karen Kiskan, after her mom caught up with her. Helen Kiskan, Karen's mother, said she went into her daughter’s room late one night to find her daughter gone and her window wide open. She tried calling her cell phone, but it was sitting on the bed where her daughter was normally sleeping at that hour.
Helen tried calling a few of the numbers on her phone, but all Karen's friends could tell her was that her daughter had been seeing a boy named Darren Degenhardt from across town. She checked the phone book, but there were a lot of Degenhardts in Tucson, and it was too late to start calling.
Helen thought she had been stumped and would just have to wait or her daughter to sneak back into the house, but then she remembered what she had heard about online cell phone databases on the news.
Before long she found a cell phone database. She said all she had to do was type in Darren and Tucson and she found a cell phone number with the name Darren Degenhardt in Tucson. She called it, and asked for Karen.
Not long later, the confused -- and slightly embarrassed -- Karen had Darren drive her home.
Helen said she made sure to keep at least one of the online cell phone registry on hand, but never told her daughter.
She said she continues to use it for everything from a simple reverse lookup of unknown numbers to a detailed list of information attached to someone's name or cell phone number.
