Purely Revolutionary: The Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness

Sony Ericsson has always been known to be a pioneer when it comes to mobile phone features. Although they may not always be the first ones to come out with a new type of technology, they surely know how to change the game by launching products that offer revolutionary technology. Just recently, they’ve confirmed their intention to release the latest addition to their Xperia line of devices. However, the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness isn’t quite going to be anything like your ordinary mobile phone.

The Game Changer

All we’d have to do is to look at previous Sony Ericsson mobile phones to realize that this company truly has an act for changing how things ought to be in the mobile phone industry. Let’s take for instance, the famed Cyber-Shot line of mobile phones. Sony Ericsson wasn’t the first manufacturer to release a mobile phone that had an integrated camera on board; taking credit here is the Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp for their launch of the J-SH04 back in November 2000.

However, with the release of the first and the further development of other Cyber-Shot mobile phones, Sony Ericsson was able to set the bar in terms of mobile imaging. From that point on, mobiles that wanted to contend in this particular category had the Cyber-Shot mobiles as their benchmark for both performance, as well as success.

In 2006, this department was dominated by the Sony Ericsson K800i which wowed the world with its cutting edge 3.15-Megapixel camera. This time around, it’s the Sony Ericsson Satio which sports a mind-boggling 12-MP snapper. And now, Sony Ericsson is looking to change the game yet again, albeit in an entirely different way.

Something Else

As mentioned before, the new Xperia Pureness is not like any other mobile phone you’ve seen in the past – unless of course, you’ve already come across a mobile phone that has a transparent screen. If this is the case then we’re probably from different planets.

The Xperia Pureness takes on quite an extra-ordinary design. Aside from the transparent display, this device also has a unique-looking keyboard. Actually, you won’t be able to see the keyboard unless you turn on the backlight of the device. This one-of-a-kind keyboard is definitely a nice touch as it adds some elegance to a rather odd-looking device.

Kept in the Dark

Unfortunately, everything about the Xperia Pureness has been kept under wraps up until today. This is definitely fueling even more rumours about this device and its specifications. We still do not know what kind of unique technology Sony Ericsson made use for the Xperia Pureness to have a transparent screen.

There is also no word yet regarding when it will be launched. As for the pricing, rumour has it that the Xperia Pureness will retail for around £500 once it hits shelves (quite a price to pay for a mobile phone that doesn’t even have an actual screen, eh?). The only thing we are definite about is that this particular handset will continue to be the content of tech blogs, as well as magazine articles for months to come.
