Listings of phone numbers is nothing new as phone directories have been around for a long time and reverse phone searches have also been an easy thing to do on regular phone directory sites. Reverse cell phone listings however are a little newer and have a whole bunch of issues associated with them that have managed to attract a few myths and mistruths about the reverse cell phone directories that are out there on the net. As with any myth its sole purpose is to misrepresent ... and to be BUSTED which is what this article will do.
Myth 1: Finding the owners of cell phone numbers is an invasion of privacy!
Discovering the identity of a cell phone owner is NOT an invasion of privacy, it is not illegal and it is not immoral if we look at it in the context of reverse lookups of land lines which are freely available. Cell phones are no different except cell phone data is harder to get, apart from that there is nothing illegal about a reverse look up in the USA and Canada anyway. The only reason they seem a little bit different and therefore may seem to be a bit secretive perhaps is that they are quite separate from regular phone directories because the data comes from very different places. In the end cell phone data is free to distribute and list, it is just not law that they are freely available.
Myth 2: I found a free cell phone directory, you do not need to pay for it!
Some people bristle when they have to pay for information and search for so called 'free' sites that allow them to do a cell phone search. While there are 'free' sites out there they tend to fall into two categories: Poor quality & Dishonest.
Poor quality reverse cell directories are usually free because they provide very little information and often have a very small database that is quite incomplete. This means you may be able to find some information but general it is a big waste of time. These are businesses like any other and often earn their money by advertising on their site or by collecting your details to sell on to spammers or keep to themselves to sell you stuff at a later date.
The dishonest sites are basically not free but lead you on giving you a glimpse of what they have to offer while offering FREE searches. They then start asking for money to get more information making them dishonest in their approach.
Myth 3: All Reverse Cell phone listings are a scam!
Some people think the entire idea of these sites is a hoax to make you pull out your credit card and fill their pockets. Sites that do reverse cell phone listings are businesses designed to make money this is true, but like any legitimate business they are providing something that saves your time or money or makes something easier and is worth investing in because it is something you cannot do on your own. Reverse cell directories have to invest time and money into creating their sites, promoting their sites and the biggest cost of all is continually updating their database by buying cell details from various companies that collect this data. They then sell this information on to people looking to buy so you can find who is on the end of that mystery cell phone number you have for whatever reasons and in the end hopefully make a profit.
Reverse cell number sites are not a scam but a business that you can use for your own benefit and piece of mind and may be the only way you can anonymously and confidentially get the answers you seek.
