The Galaxy S might look like an IPhone copy, but its big, vibrant screen and smart-phone features makes it more than just another copy. The Galaxy S works to its strengths by having great hardware and mostly leaving the software side of things to Google's Andrios OS.The Galaxy S looks very like to the Apple's iPhones, with a black plastic case and a gunmetal-grey trim. On the front end there are two touch-sensitive, buttons and a single mechanical home button, lending the whole mobile a flowing look that sets it apart from different button-laden phones that run Android, such as the LG KP850 Prada.The model has a 102mm (4-inch) huge, and yet the mobile feels shockingly light. Some will miss the heft of a giant, heavy smart phone, but I loved the device's lightness. Rest of the hardware doesn't stay behind, great connectivity support is set within, such as BT, WiFi and more, allowing great transfer and surfing through the internet.The camera is pretty great, though its focus is sometimes not firm. Still, very nice quality on the photos taken.This mobile phone is working really good, and I hadn't seen it get stuck, or freeze once during the time I had it for the testing. There's also an FM radio on-board, and, if you have a Samsung TV, you can use the Galaxy S as a remote control.Google's Andriod mostly handles the software features, which I think is a very good call - Samsung's own attempts weren't always good to say the least. Android is Google's software for powering smart phones, and it includes innumerable treats, especially if you use Google products like Gmail. In addition, there is access to the Android Market, which is heavy with applications that you can easily download and add to your mobile, increasing its capabilities and features to an almost infinite extent.Even if you never download an app, Samsung has made sure there are plenty of good ones pre-installed on this phone. One of them is Swype. It's an alternative keyboard that makes writing on the screen faster, because you just have to run your finger over the letters that you want, rather than picking out each one. To activate Swype, you just have to hold your finger on any text field. If you don't like it, you can switch it off just as easily.There are some issues with non Andriod apps, such as microsoft outlook which doesn't sync at times with events, but there should be a patch to be downloaded from Samsung's site.Another nice feature is that you can load up the seven home screens with widgets. Some include live updates, providing you with live information from social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. As with programs, you can download widgets from the Android Market, and Samsung has also chucked some of its own within the Galaxy S. They look great, if you like Samsung's playful style. You don't have to use these own widgets if you don't want to though, and you can move them and remove them at will.

Good:

*Vastly customisable and extendable with apps from the Android Market

* Huge Super AMOLED screen

*Powerful Android operating system

* Speedy Swype keyboard# Thin# Good pre-installed apps

* Not too expensive

* Responsive touchscreen with multi-touch support

Not  Good:

* Plasticky case

* Software is flaky in places

* Samsung's own widgets are weak

* Some apps load slowly# Poor battery life

* No camera light# IPhone-wannabe menu style

Score: 4.5/5
