Since its release in the third quarter of 2007, the Samsung G600 has proved to be the first 5 Mega Pixel mobile phone with true widespread appeal ranging from techno-freaks and the fashion-savvy to moderate users just looking for a decent inexpensive all-rounder.
The first colour scheme of muted greys and silver outlines on some of the controls may not have been particularly adventurous or daring, but it did show some potential to be even better-looking than it already was. The launch of a Silver version was the logical next-step to broaden the appeal and signpost for the near future, though it did have a major issue with fingerprints.
The newest colour scheme for the G600 comes as a bit of a surprise as I was personally expecting either a blue or black version to come along at some point, but perhaps in the future that may happen. The latest version is a half-silver, half-pink hybrid that seems designed to stand out from the crowd of other pink mobiles, which it does with considerable style and ease.
The front body of the phone when slid-down is normal shiny-silver, but further down its all change. The circular D-pad is pink with a silver outline & a silver centre confirmation button. Everything underneath is pink all –over, including the 3 buttons under the D-pad. The whole of the back-cover is entirely pink as well and even though this is a pretty strange move by Samsung as opposed to doing the traditional thing of draping the whole phone in pink, it is actually very striking. The fact that the keypad is the same colour as well does make the Samsung G600 Pink look even better when slid up (and that’s coming from a bloke!)
All of the features present in the original G600 still remain, including the excellent 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus + flash, meaning that Pink G600 is the first cameraphone of this standard that comes in this colour.
The Samsung G600 Pink is currently available to purchase on contract or Pay As You Go for very reasonable prices, making it possibly an ideal gift for Valentines Day.
