Samsung S5600 Blade vs Nokia N97-Why match the unmatched rivals? Summary- Both Samsung S5600 and Nokia N97 are very advanced touch devices that support 3G service. Whereas the Samsung Blade is more compact and light, the N97 comes with the added edge of a full QWERTY keypad and GPS support. Nokia and Samsung are the most trusted and popular mobile phone manufacturers in the world and they both have an extensive and exhaustive range of devices in their armoury. Both have always been in competition; Nokia has always had the largest share in the world mobile market but Samsung has rapidly gained momentum and is presently the second largest mobile phone maker in the world. Samsung has been very successful in making customer centric phones with sophisticated designs and functionalities. It's latest addition to the wide range of touch-phones is the Samsung S5600 Blade which is a quad-band GSM touch-phone with support for dual-band 3G service.
Whereas the latest Nokia N97 is an advanced addition to the prestigious N-series and is a touch-phone with quad-band GSM reception but a tri-band 3G service. The N-97 is definitely targeted towards the top-end of the market whereas the Samsung Blade is making it's entry in the mid-range market. The Blade might appear to be knocked out by the N97 in certain areas which is justifiable because of being more cost-friendly than the N97. None the less, it is equally versatile and capable like the N97. The Blade comes with a 2.8 inches TFT touchscreen which is really small as compared to the 3.5 inches TFT resistive touchscreen of the N97. But the largeness of the touchscreen also makes the N97 more bigger and bulkier than the Blade. The blade is more compact and weighs very light at just 92 grams. It comes with an internal memory of 50 MB which can be expanded upto 8GB whereas the N97 is loaded with 32GB of internal storage. Both are equipped with built-in accelerometer sensor for auto-orientation of the UI. 3G service in both the devices enables fast data downloading with the help of HSDPA at 3.6Mbps.
Both also come loaded with Bluetooth and USB that allow cost-effective data sharing between compatible devices. The N97 boasts of an excellent 5 mega pixel camera which is fitted with Carl Zeiss optics for optimum performance. It also includes auto-focus, an LED flash and an additional video light. On the other hand the Blade is equipped with a 3.15 mega pixel camera unit that comes along with an LED flash. It also has a smart Smile detection feature and allows video recording in QVGA mode at 15fps. Both these devices also include a stereo FM radio with RDS and have versatile audio and video players that allows the user to playback files of various formats. But the Blade certainly misses the Wi-Fi and GPS that come along with N97. The N97 also has a digital compass and a Nokia Maps application that synchronises with the built-in GPS. Both the Nokia N97 and the Samsung S5600 Blade employ a standard Li-Ion battery as their power units but whereas the one in the N97 gives a talk time of up to 6 hours, the one in the Blade supports only a talk time of about 2 hours when used in the 3G spectrum.
