This is due to the risk that is caused by sending these QR codes over SMS and IM messages, as this has the possibility of allowing the sender of the QR code to link the recipient to malicious sites that will enable browser exploits and then allow them to make use of the individual's microphone, camera or even GPS. This could then allow them to then stream the feed to a remote server and allow them access to passwords, contacts, files and also previous transactions.
