Product of Sony and Ericsson, the Sony ericsson P1i is compatible to Bluetooth. Many users of the phone are unaware of this facility. And those who know doesn't know much what this technology is all about.
To begin with, the term Bluetooth is a low-power, short-distance radio link. A Bluetooth chip set that is embedded in a set in our case Sony Ericsson P1i, it enables wireless data connectivity between different types of electronic devices, such as mobile phones, laptops, and digital cameras, within a radius of about 10 meters and without line-of-sight requirements, a very important feature.
And there is Bluetooth SIG? What Blutooth P1i is all about? To begin with, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is an industry consortium founded in 1998. Many renowned companies like Agere, 3COM, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, and Toshiba are in this consortium.
Importance of the consortium is that, it is responsible for the specification and the Bluetooth Qualification Program. And there is UnPlugFests that an user of the phone Sony Ericsson P1i must know. UnPlugFests are testing events organized by the Bluetooth SIG. They take place three or four times each year. At UnPlugFests, different manufacturers can test their products' interoperability with other devices.
That was all about the Bluetooth technology and its primary information. There are other lot of applications that users of the Sony Ericsson P1i can use. At first, the Bluetooth replaces the cables for connecting various compatible digital devices. Perhaps the possible applications of the technology include business card exchange, file transfer, synchronization of data, and dial-up networking.
The second phase transformation that is being witnessed by users of the mobile phone is related to Personal Trusted Device, allowing applications such as local value-added services, reliable transactions, and access control. Users of the phone can develop Bluetooth applications in Symbian C++ or in the Java™ programming language.
