With so many mobiles in the market one has to be sure about the mobile you're going to buy. Sony Ericsson and Samsung are two very popular mobile manufacturers who have given us the most advanced state of the art handsets. We are going to compare Sony Ericsson W995 versus Samsung M8800 Pixon.
The Sony Ericsson W995 is a stylish slider phone which comes in three snazzy colours - energetic red, cosmic silver and progressive black. It comes with a beautiful 2.6 inch TFT screen capable of displaying 256K colours at a high colour resolution of 240 x 320 pixels which gives crystal clear imaging. The Samsung M8800 Pixon is a stunning 3G Smartphone which comes in two cool colours - black and red. The front of this mobile is adorned by a gorgeous 3.2 inch TFT resistive touchscreen capable of displaying 256K colours at an amazing resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. This gives very high colour sharp images plus the huge screen makes it all the more enjoyable. Both have the Accelerometer sensor feature for Auto-Rotate. The W995 is quite sleek and compact with dimensions of 97 x 49 x 15 mm and can easily be held in one hand and operated. Weight is also not an issue as it weighs a meager 113 grams which makes it easy to carry. The W995 has a very elegant look and looks quite sophisticated and smart. The M8800 Pixon is a little heavier and larger than the W995 with dimensions of 107.9 x 54.6 x 13.8 mm and weighing 121 grams, but with the touchscreen and all the features installed on it, weight is not an issue.
Both Sony Ericsson W995 and Samsung M8800 Pixon have the most sophisticated cameras with the W995 having an 8.1 Megapixel camera and the M8800 having an 8 Megapixel camera. Both are capable of capturing extremely high colour pictures at a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels giving eagle-eye clarity. Both are equipped with digital camera features like Auto focus and LED flash which help the user in capturing clear pictures. Other features include Geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilizer, etc. Both of these mobiles have the facility of video recording and can capture quite clear videos at a high speed of 30fps. There is a second camera on the front of both the handsets which can be used to take part in interactive 3G video-calling.
They work on a quad band (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) network, while the Sony Ericsson W995 works on both HSPDA 900 and HSPDA 2100 network, the Samsung M8800 Pixon works on just HSPDA 2100 network. The connectivity features are also quite similar with both mobiles being GPRS and EDGE connected using which the user can indulge in high speed data transfer. The 3G HSPDA technology allows users to surf the net at high speeds. The Bluetooth technology and USB port are provided in both mobiles which can be used for fast data transfer with other compatible devices like laptops, printers, etc. Sony Ericsson W995 has a few additional features like HSCSD and Wi-Fi which help the user to connect wireless to the net at any hotspot area. Both mobiles have some very interesting games preloaded on the mobile and has the option of downloading further games off the net. The W995 scores above the M880 here too with a unique motion based game which the user will have much fun playing.
As far as memory space is concerned, the fight between Sony Ericsson W995 Versus Samsung M8800 Pixon is clearly won by the W995. Although internal memory is just a meager 118 MB on the W995, there is an in-built card included of 8GB which can be used to store loads of songs, videos, pictures and even entire movies. The M8800 Pixon however has an internal memory of 200MB so selected songs can be put. Although expandable memory in the M8800 is more with a slot provided for a 16 GB card while the W995 is expandable by 8 GB.
Both have excellent music players with awesome sound quality. The W995 music player has features like TrackID music recognition, Shake control, etc. Fully charged, the W995 delivers a talktime of 9 hours and a standby time of 370 hours while the M800 gives a talktime of 3 hours 40 min and a standby time of 290 hours.
Overall, both of them are very sophisticated phones but the W995 scores above M8800 in many respects. The M8800 is preferred by people who want a touchscreen phone.
