
The candy-bar designed Sony Ericsson K850i is a 3G UMTS camera phone. The device's front fascia is coated in black. It has a 5 mega-pixel camera with a 16x digital zoom, autofocus and xenon flash. It is equipped with useful features like image & video stabilization, BestPic and red eye reduction.
The device has a 2.2-inch, 262K TFT-QVGA display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixel. The display can accommodate upto 8 text and 3 service lines. The display has three touch-sensitive white buttons at the bottom. These buttons are equipped with context-sensitive capabilities. The handset comes equipped with a motion sensor that determines its display layout. Turning the handset sideways automatically switches the screen into landscape mode.
The device has 40 MB of inbuilt memory which can be further expanded by using a 4 GB microSD memory card. It has a 930 mAh Li-Po (BST-3B) battery that has a talktime of 9 hrs. and a standby time of 400 hrs. The device supports Bluetooth and GSM. Its Accelerometer senses the orientation of the device and automatically switches its to either Portrait or Landscape mode.
When you use the K850i in camera mode, the device's entire screen acts as a viewfinder. The device's topmost number keys row lights up in blue. These keys then act as camera setting buttons. The camera-phone's xenon flash brightly illuminates nearby objects when you take photographs. It thus decently exposes your subject against a near dark background. The device uses 3 tiny-LEDs to illuminate the scene of focus. It fires the power-hungry xenon flash only when the snap is actually taken.
The Sony Ericsson K850i camera-phone comes in a choice of two colours - Luminous Green and Velvet Blue. Its PhotoFix feature allows you to tweak your photograps before transferring them to your PC. The camera-phone is equipped with a Netfront Web browser. It supports POP3 and IMAP email formats and MP3, AudioBooks & RealAudio audio formats. It weighs 115 gm and measures 106 x 47 x 18 mm. The device is also equipped with several other useful features like speed dial, smart search, voice dialling and caller Photo ID.
