The Nokia E7 is due for release very shortly and looks set to cause quite a stir.  Boasting the increasingly popular combination of both a touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard, is ideal for productivity tasks when in the workplace; however it is equally at home playing different multimedia formats.

The measurements of the handset are 123x 62.4x 13.6 millimetres.  This makes it a comfortable phone to use with two hands when using the keyboard, or when operating the touch screen with just one hand.  The measurements were also impressive for a handset which has a separate keyboard unit making it highly portable and easy to fit into a pocket or handbag.  The 4 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is capable of displaying up to 16m colours within the confines of its 360x 640 pixel resolution.  This results in stunning display quality with vivid, representation whilst remaining crisp and clear.

Whilst vibration and ringing are used to alert users to incoming calls and messages, there is also a luxury of assigning both MP3 and WAV files as ring tones allowing users to customise the sound of the handset.  Handsfree conversations are made simple thanks to a built in speakerphone system and 3.5 mm audio jack.

The Nokia E7 offers 16 GB of internal storage.  This is sure to prove ample for the needs of most users, as it can store countless files be they music, videos, photos or documents.  Due to this generous level of storage, the need for expandable storage such as a microSD card is eliminated.

Class 32 versions of both EDGE & GPRS keep users connected to the appropriate cellular networks in all but the most isolated regions.  Internet browsing is provided initially via 3G coverage which utilises an HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 10.2 Mbps, and Wi-Fi, which allows users to take advantage of local Wireless Networks where accessible, for a faster and therefore enhanced browsing experience.

One of the most notable hardware features of the Nokia E7 has to be its stunning eight mega pixel digital camera.  Operating at a pixel resolution of 3264x 2448 pixels, it offers fixed focus, face detection dual-LED flash and geo-tagging.  The latter functions thanks to GPS and automatically tags the location at which a photo was taken and this can then be displayed on an onscreen map.  The camera also offers the alternative of shooting video, and this is in no less than 720p (HD) quality at 25 frames per second and comes with video stabilisation as standard.

The handset utilises the Symbian 3 OS, which works in conjunction with a 680 MHz processor to provide a fantastic user experience.  This combination allows users to take advantage of the wealth of built in features.  These range from entertainment features which include a number of pre-installed and downloadable games along with a versatile internal media player stereo FM radio, to productivity tools such as a document editor which is compatible with Microsoft Office documents.

Whilst it is highly functional and versatile, Nokia has not overlooked the aesthetics of the Nokia E7, and upon its release date, users will be able to get their hands on a number of different colour options which include dark grey, silver white, green, blue and orange.

The success and popularity of the Nokia E7 looks assured thanks to the winning combination of superb hardware and software coupled with aesthetic appeal, along with the manufacturer's reputation of producing quality mobile phones.
