The Nokia N8 is no ordinary phone, in design, it is typical Nokia, but in performance the phone is far more advanced than anything the Finnish firm has ever delivered. The device is packing speedy web connectivity along with the latest version of the Symbian software; Symbian ^3. Users will find various applications for satellite navigation, social networking and messaging.

The phone is not the slimmest, but it is however comfortable to handle and the screen is very bright and the on-screen imagery is crisp and clear thanks to 360 x 640 pixel set up. The 3.5 inch screen is AMOLED and boasts capacitive touch technology which supports the multi-touch input method. The device comes a wide range of colours with Orange or Green included in the variants.

The new Symbian software is much smoother and much nicer to work with than previous packages; it is fully integrated with the user's social networks and provides a home screen packed with information. The home screen can be customized to feature live news feeds, social network feeds and shortcuts to various applications and web pages. The screen also has an in-built accelerometer for auto UI rotation.

The Nokia N8 utilises various forms of technology to access the internet; users will find high speed 3G network coverage along with turbo charged Wi Fi for optimized browsing speeds. The web browser is much better than expected; it allows users to create web page shortcuts and save bookmarks. Another online aspect is the phones access to the Ovi Market which is jam packed with a huge range of downloadable apps for users to enrich there N8 experience.

Support for Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and MySpace comes naturally to the N8 while support for e-mail account management, Instant Messaging, SMS and MMS also come as standard. The on screen QWERTY keyboard is easy to use and message composing is a generally pleasant experience.

Nokia have included a very high spec camera system in this already impressive package. The high tech 12MP effort is capable of capturing some gorgeous still imagery while filming some very clear and very smooth videos. Nokia are giving user the opportunity to share there work online with YouTube and Facebook among the compatible sites.

A very capable video player allows users to view a number of video formats in high resolution while a music player supports numerous file types along with FM radio and podcasting. The phones internal memory of 16GB is ample enough to handle a large collection of tunes, videos and applications. A 3.5mm jack allows for headphones to be plugged in while Bluetooth enables the N8 to communicate wirelessly with compatible hardware devices.

The Nokia N8 is packing some truly impressive equipment in the form of its 12MP camera while in-house, the phones online capabilities and messaging support will be a huge selling point, Nokia fans will find the phone comfortable to use, interface is similar to that of older phones and the N8's customization opportunities will be appealing to new buyers.
